Spring sports have begun for Kouts spring athletic teams after some spotty weather to start the spring season. Mustangs varsity baseball is off to a 4-0 start with wins over Calumet, Knox, Argos and East Chicago Central. Mustangs will take the field Monday night at 4:30 in a home game vs. North Judson. The JV team sits at 1-1 and will continue action this week. Fillies softball dropped their season opener to Kankakee Valley but rebounded with back to back wins against Merrillville and Culver Community to move to 2-1 on the season. They will host South Newton Monday night with a 4:45 first pitch. Fillie JV record is 1-2 and will travel to Chesterton on Monday night. Kouts track team had their season opening meet postponed and now will look to get the outdoor season underway on Tuesday night at Morgan Township in a PCC meet vs. the Cherokees and Washington Township.
